Legal Associates:

ISAAC WALUKAGGA

Isaac was with Mugerwa and Masembe Advocates since 2003 before the merger that resulted in MMAKS Advocates. He specializes in commercial law with emphasis in corporate debt recovery, employment law, tax law and litigation in these areas. He also has a niche for criminal law. 

He has handled high profile litigation matters involving several international and local entities. Isaac is part of the legal team currently representing influential members of the opposition facing alleged sedition charges related to the sensitive issue of the Land Amendment Act. 

He is an alumni of the International Law Institute, a member of the International Bar Association, Common Wealth Lawyers Association, East African Law Society, Uganda Law Society and the Uganda Christian Lawyers Association. Isaac was recently appointed a member of the Affairs Committee of Uganda Law Society, a body charged with the responsibility of running affairs of the legal fraternity in the Country. He works with the litigation department of the firm. 

STEPHEN ZIMULA 

Stephen has been with MMAKS since its inception in 2005 and works with litigation department of the firm. He hold an LLB (Hons) Degree of Makerere University, a Diploma in legal practice from the Law Development Centre and a Diploma in Trial Advocacy from the National Institute of Trial Advocacy, America.

He was admitted to the Uganda Bar in Jan 2006. Stephen specialises in land transactions and conveyances, and civil litigation. 

DIANA NINSIIMA KIBUUKA

Diana holds a LLB (Hons) degree Makerere University and a Masters from University of Cambridge. She specialises in commercial transactions with specific emphasis on the formation of various legal entities, securitization, land transactions, corporate restructuring and carrying out legal due diligences. She has been involved in the first winding up of a financial institution under the Financial Institutions Act 2 of 2004 and has advised and been involved in a number of legal due diligences for government parastatals, financial institutions and private companies. Diana also handles Non Governmental Organizations registrations and renewals and advises various charitable organizations and trusts. She is a member of the Uganda Law Society and the East African law Society.

NOAH S. WASIGE

Noah has been with MMAKS Advocates since its inception in May 2005 and before that was with M/s Central Law Offices since August 2004. He is involved in the preparation of legal briefs and legal research. He is interested in the field of commercial law, corporate law and litigation. 

MALIZA KWERA

Maliza Kwera holds an LLM in Commercial and Corporate law from the University of Witwatersrand, South Africa. She holds an honours law degree from Makerere University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre.

Maliza has been with MMAKS Advocates since June 2008 and works with the Corporate department of the Firm. She previously worked with Total Uganda Ltd as a legal officer. She specializes in Corporate and Commercial law generally and is involved in the preparation of securities for various financial institutions. She also carries out legal due diligence and prepares legal briefs.

LYDIA NANYANGE

Lydia has been with MMAKS Advocates since October 2008. She holds an LLB (Hons) Degree from Makerere University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from Law Development Centre. Lydia is a Legal Associate working with the Corporate Department of the firm. She specialises in Land conveyance and creation of securities for Banks.

BWOGI KALIBBALA

Bwogi joined MMAKS in October 2008. He holds an LLB (Hons) Degree of Uganda Christian University. He is a legal assistant with the firm and works with the litigation department. He is involved in the preparation of legal briefs and legal research. He is interested in the field of commercial law and litigation.

GLORIA MATOVU 

Gloria joined MMAKS in October 2008. She holds an LLB (Hons) Degree of Makerere University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre. She is a legal assistant with the firm and works with the corporate and commercial transactions department as well as the Intellectual Property department. She is involved in preparation of legal briefs and legal research and creation of securities for Banks. She also handles the registrations and renewals of Non Governmental Organizations and Trademarks.

DAVID MUKIIBI

David joined MMAKS in April, 2009 and works with the firm's litigation department. He holds an LLB (Hons) from Makerere University and a Diploma in Legal practice from the Law Development Centre.

He is involved in preparation of Legal briefs and Legal research. He is interested in commercial and Land transactions, domestic relations and civil litigation.

He previously worked with Stanbic Bank (U) Limited as a Credit-legal officer where he was involved in providing legal advice, due diligence, risk management inter alia.

MICHAEL BALIMUKUUBO

Michael Balimukuubo joined MMAKS in January 2010. He holds an LLB (Hons) degree from Makerere University and a Diploma in legal practice from The Law Development Center. He is a legal assistant with the firm and works with the Corporate Department of the firm. He is involved in legal research and preparations of legal briefs. He is interested in the field of commercial law with emphasis on company law and the law of Banking.
