ALN

MMAKS Advocates is part of the ALN (www.africalegalnetwork.com). The ALN is an association of ten law firms from ten African Countries namely, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Mozambique, Botswana, Mauritius and Burundi.

The firms have come together with a view to providing regional legal solutions to their clients. It is the first association of its kind in the region.

Many clients of the ten firms – operate in the African region. ALN has been created with a view to providing seamless, high quality and efficient legal services in Africa to such clients as well as to those who may from time to time require legal advice in one or more of these jurisdictions.

The member firms of ALN work very closely together. For example, the member firms:

• Share library and precedent resources
• Undertake joint professional training and development
• Operate common administrative systems
• Second staff to each other on a transactional as well as longer-term basis
• Operate similar quality assurance methods.

Increasingly, the member firms of ALN work together on multi-jurisdictional assignments, which require the specialist skills in the country of one member of a lawyer in another member firm. The member firms also often work together on large transactions, which require a team of professionals, for example, due diligence exercises and large mergers and acquisitions.

Each member firm of ALN aims to be the leading provider of corporate and commercial legal services in the country in which it operates resulting in the ALN being the leading provider of corporate and commercial legal services in Africa.
